Josie Maran – Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Veil
Josie Maran
I got this Josie Maran illuminating veil in one of my Glossyboxes. If you wanna read about my Glossybox subscription experience click here
So what is an illuminating veil?
Well, I went online to the Josie Maran website, and they didn’t specify whether this product was a highlighter or a setting powder. They just called it a veil, and instructed to apply to the areas on your face that you’d like to highlight.
To me, veil implies an all over powder, but it instructs only to use on areas that you’d like highlighted.
After experimenting with this product, I’m going to be using it as a highlighter and not a setting powder/foundation powder.
I’ve read online where many confused customers are debating whether this product is a highlighter or a setting powder?
Many claim that it is a setting powder, and not meant to be used as a highlighter. Meaning: If you think this is a weak highlighter, duh, it’s because it’s really an overall face powder.
But I’ve also read where others claim that it is a subtle highlighter and not meant to be used as a setting powder, it’s supposed to be a natural looking highlighter.
Also, I read many complaints where customers thought they couldn’t see a glow/shine on their face at all when they used it.
I can honestly say that this is a very soft highlighter. I’m not going to use it as a setting or overall face powder. I used it once as an overall face powder, and I thought it left my face too bright and cakey looking.
I do like that this ‘veil’ leaves a natural soft glow. It is very subtle. It’s not too glittery and it leaves a warm glow on my face.
Btw, I like the sleek compact. The reflective rose gold color is gorgeous, but beware, it smudges quickly.
The packaging is very pretty.
Shine The Light You Were Born To Shine – Josie
Super sweet and motivational quote on the mirror inside the compact. I’ll take a bit of positivity anywhere I can get it, thank you, Josie Maran.
If you enjoy wearing a very natural makeup look, then you’ll enjoy this highlighter. But if you’re the makeup lover that wants to look like a unicorn threw up on you, you will not like it. As stated in the title, this is not a “Ka-pow, in your kind of highlighter.” It will just leave you with a warm, golden glow.
I’m glad that I was able to get this product because it was included in my glossy box, but I don’t think that I will run out and buy this product once I use it all; however, I do plan on using this as my main highlighter until I run out of it. Only reason I probably won’t buy it again is because there are so many other highlighters out on the market, I wanna keep trying more.

Josie Maran illuminizing veil leaves you with a natural, golden glow.
The product itself is very powdery, and a just a bit creamy. The veil is exactly the same shade as my skin tone, so you can’t even tell I’m really wearing anything at all, the only thing that appears is a warm, soft glow.
You know when the sun is setting and a warm, golden glow is kissing your face?
Well, that’s exactly what this Josie Maran ‘veil’ will do for you.

I got the same Josie Maran highlighter when I redeemed my Sephora points! It was a few years ago and I completely forgot about it. Thanks for reminding about it. And thanks for sharing your review!
