EMPTIES – Which Should You Buy & Which Should You Stay Away From

It’s that time again, empties! These skincare and makeup products are all finished, but before I toss them, let me share my thoughts with y’all. Several of the products were absolute winners, unfortunately, there were a few I’d never purchase again. If you’re debating whether to add any of the empties shown below to your beauty routine, then hopefully you’ll find this post helpful.

Tinted SPF 45 from PETER THOMAS ROTH. I’ve bought it twice already, and I use this instead of foundation during the summer. It doesn’t leave a white residue on my face, blends well, and looks great under makeup. It’s very light, so if you’re looking for something with excellent blemish coverage, then this is not your product. This all-mineral sunscreen protects my face from the sun and helps with my uneven skin tone. It’s only available in one shade: NAKED. This sunscreen leaves me with dewy skin and with no matte effect at all. It’s chemical free – doesn’t contain parabens, sulfates, or phthalates. Good for normal, oily, combination, dry, or sensitive skin. $38 – I’m not super crazy about the price, if I ever find a more affordable alternative that works just as well I’d consider switching.

A lightweight, translucent loose setting powder that works well. It’s an award winning Laura Mercier product that is very popular in the beauty community. It helps with my oil and shine issues. It softens and improves my overall finished makeup look. I love this powder, but, it is very messy. There’s always residue all over my makeup station when I use it. I don’t know if I’m going to continue to purchase this again, because I might switch over to a non-loose powder option. It’s $39 for the full size, and, $23 for the mini size. Try the mini size version that is available at Sephora before committing to their full size.

(Night) Olay REGENERIST Micro-Sculpting Cream is an affordable night cream that I’ve purchased often throughout the years. It’s about $25 depending where you shop. Despite the way it’s advertised, I don’t consider this my ‘miracle cream’. It didn’t make me look younger after 28 days of consistent use. However, I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this in the future because I’ve never had any negative skin reactions. I have sensitive skin, and this works well for me. It’s a moisturizing, solid, effective, and affordable product. You can use a lot without the fear that you’re breaking the bank. I rub a good amount all over my dรฉcolletage, face, and hands.
(Day) Olay REGENERIST Micro-Sculpting Cream SPF 30 is my daily moisturizer that I wear under foundation. I really like this a lot. $25, it’s affordable. It works really nice under my makeup, and it blends well into my skin. I use a lot daily over my dรฉcolletage, top of hands, neck, and face. I will keep repurchasing this item when I run out.

REGENERIST Micro-Sculpting Serum this anti-aging product did not impress me at all. I thought it was too thick to be labeled a serum. It didn’t blend into my skin, just sat on top of my face, and made my makeup look horrible. I didn’t notice any benefits from using it consistently. It didn’t layer well with my other skincare products. I will never purchase again.

CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua is a light, easy to use foundation. It’s not fussy, it gives me medium coverage. It works really well for me. I just wish the SPF was higher. Other than that, I’m a big fan of this $50 foundation, and surprisingly, it lasts a long time. I will repurchase this again.

|| NEVER AGAIN ||
Creme De LA Mer Moisturizing Cream – $335, the grande dame of moisturizers. Unfortunately, I will never purchase this cream again. It’s a luxuriously rich cream, but I think it’s way too thick. I can imagine it works amazing in cold environments, and for individuals with extremely dry skin. I did not like the way it felt on my skin. I never noticed an improvement in my face and neck. This product is too expensive and too hyped up. There are so many other affordable, amazing creams available on the market. LA MER unboxing, click here

|| NEVER AGAIN ||
OLAPLEX Shampoo, Conditioner, and Hair Protector is a hair product brand that I’m not going to purchase anymore. As shown in the image above, this was a $84 set, and I didn’t notice a single difference in the overall improvement of my hair. I’ve used the #3 several times in the past, but never noticed an improvement in my color damaged hair. So I bought #3,4, & 5 – thinking I would see a difference if I used all three of these products together – expensive disappointment. These products just did not work on my hair. I like that they contain no parabens, sulfates, or phthalates.

KORRES GREEK YOGHURT CLEANSER this is an indulgent $26 cream-to-foam, soap free cleanser that I love, I’ve purchased it twice already. Sephora does sell a mini size for $14. There is a light fragrance in this product, so buyer beware. I found this cleanser did a great job removing my makeup, it left my face soft and refreshed. A little goes a long way, about a nickel size amount is all that is needed. The product is silky and it effortlessly forms from cream to foam.
Good For These Skin Types:
– Normal
– Oily
– Combination
– Dry
– Sensitive
