MY SUMMER 2022 BEAUTY STASH

Summer of 2022 is turning out to be a lot more fun than 2020. Businesses are open this summer with less restrictions, which means a lot more traveling and things to do. So I thought I’d share with you all what is in my current summer beauty stash, you know, all the skincare and makeup goodies I’ve been using this summer to get me selfie ready and fabulous.

Dior setting spray

DIOR Airflash Radiance Mist Primer & Setting Spray

👍 | $50

I just finished this Dior primer. I did not use it as a setting spray, because it left me with a shimmering residue all over my dark brown eyebrows. Ummmm….yeah…this was a cool luxury makeup product to try out.

I used a tinted sunscreen as my base and then sprayed this primer over my face and neck, it left me with a nice tint and glow. This Dior mist primer evened out my skin tone, thus I didn’t really need to use a foundation.

But…girl…this $50 mist primer only lasted me about 2 months, and I didn’t even use a full face of makeup everyday. If you use a full face of make every single day, I’m sure you will need about a can a month, that’s about $600 a year for a primer. It does have a light fragrance, so keep that in mind. This tinted mist primer can be a little messy as well, especially if you are wearing delicate clothing.

Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer

Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer

😍😍😍| $68

This Drunk Elephant moisturizer is pricey af…but I love it. I buy a new jar every single time I finish one, this is my favorite daily moisturizer, love the way it looks under my makeup. It is a rich, moisturizing cream that contains peptides. After using this daily I noticed my skin felt more plump, soft, bright, and hydrated. I use one pump of this every morning after I apply my vitamin c serum and my Timeless skincare coenzyme Q10 serum, then I layer my tinted sunscreen on top of it. I like the way my makeup looks layered with this moisturizer.

It is also fragrance free. The ingredients list is long, so if you have sensitive skin or allergies be aware of the ingredients list. I have sensitive skin, and I have not experienced any negative side effects from this Drunk Elephant product.

My only complaint is the price. Honestly, there are some affordable peptide creams at your local drugstore, so don’t feel the need to buy this bougie version. However, I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this again despite the expensive price. I only use one pump of it in the morning, and at night I use the Cerave pm moisturizer (which is very affordable).

Summer stash

Dr. Dennis Gross | Supergoop!

😍😍😍

$42 | Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare All-Physical Lightweight Wrinkle Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30

$36 | Supergoop! Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40 PA +++

I’ve been using these two brands on the daily this summer.

The Supergoop! Glowscreen has a bit of a shimmering tint to it, and when I use it alone it can be a bit overwhelming on my skin tone. But when I mix the shimmering Supergloop! with the Dr. Dennis Gross I get the perfect sunscreen. My skin feels fully protected when I use these two sunscreens.

SUNSCREEN

These two products are a bit pricey, that’s why I only use them together when I’m going to have a full face of makeup. They layer perfectly on top of my morning skincare products, and they look great under my makeup. On days when I’m going makeup free or going outside for a run I use an affordable drugstore sunscreen for my face and neck. Despite the fact that they are pricey I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase these two sunscreens again.

The Supergoop sunscreen does have a shimmering/glittery tint to it. It does leave your skin glowing and radiant. If you are not a fan of shimmer, I don’t think you will like this sunscreen. Also, these two sunscreens leave me with dewy skin, not a matte finish. If you are more of a matte girl or have oily skin then I don’t recommend these two sunscreens. Also, there are far more affordable drugstore sunscreens on the market, what ever works best with your budget is all that matters.

SUMMER BEAUTY STASH – Skincare & Makeup

CLINIQUE Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm Makeup Remover

👍| $36

I first learned of this cleansing balm from Angie’s Hot And Flashy Youtube channel. Angie is a Benjamin Button kinda gal, she’s almost 60, and she is clearly aging backwards. A lot of my affordable holy grail skincare products are from her recommendations. She mentioned that this Clinique cleansing balm is one of her favorites, so I just had to try it.

Glad I tried this balm. I think it is a great sized product for $34. There is no strong scent, and it is gentle. It never irritated my skin at all. However, I don’t feel like it took all of my eye makeup off. After I double cleansed I noticed I still had a little bit of mascara and eyeliner residue, still had the raccoon eyes.

Honestly, I feel Farmacy’s Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm worked much better for me. Also, the Then I Met You – Living Cleansing Balm has been my favorite cleansing balm of all time. And Pond’s cleansing balm for only $10 was a fantastic product for me as well.

This is a wildly popular product. Tons of people rave about this cleansing balm. It just hasn’t worked out for me. Micellar water works better than this balm I’m my opinion. I don’t even reach for it as often as I should. Sadly, I know I will never purchase this cleansing balm ever again.

CNP tip: If you’re curious about this product, purchase the $12 mini version (available on Sephora’s website) before you splurge on the full size $34 jar.

Tom Ford beauty

Tom Ford FIBER BROW GEL

😍😍😍 | $54

Youtuber recommendation purchase. I bought a $54 brow gel and I’m not mad about it. Super bougie but super necessary. I bought the chestnut shade and it matches my brows nicely. It’s so easy to use and I like the way I look when I use this product. I don’t have the patience to pencil in my brows or do anything too complicated. This just works well for me and I don’t regret this purchase. This is not the first time I’ve praised this brow gel. I like it. And I’ve been using it like crazy this summer.

* But for the more affordable option, I have also been loving and using Benefit’s Gimme Brow.

Tom Ford SOLEIL SUNLUST LIP GLOSS

😒 | $58

Yo, I can’t believe I bought this gimmicky lip gloss. All those influencers out there praising this product to death…of course they are…they get all their makeup for free…of course they are gonna praise it.

I payed for this product myself (All skincare, makeup, and beauty tools reviewed on this blog I paid for myself, unless I state otherwise. That way, as a consumer myself, I can provide you with unbiased reviews). I can honestly report back that this TF gloss is over hyped. Save your money, honey. It looks luxurious, super sleek and gold. In reality the plastic container itself feels cheap. For $56 this lip gloss didn’t impress me at all.

I’d rather buy a Maybelline Lifter Gloss for $6 or a $20 Fenty gloss any day over this TF gloss.

The gloss is too thin and sheer and it doesn’t last long. It settles into my lip lines. It just looks basic and boring. I hardly never reach for this lippie at all. First world problems…I know.

Kaja eyeshadow

Kaja Beauty Bento Bouncy Eyeshadow Trio

👍 | $26 (Last summer these were $21…seriously?!?)

I don’t think these are worth it at $26. Maybe I’m being cheap, but it’s the principal of it all, I get that inflation is kicking us all in the ass, but a $5 increase in a single year is where I draw the line. The sad thing is I really like this product, and I was gonna get more, but not no more…sadly.

I’ve got two Kaja eyeshadow trios, one in the shade of Rosewater (rose tones), and the other is in the shade of Sparkling Rosé (wine tones).

These eyeshadows are cute and compact. They are creamy and pigmented and powerful. Good quality. I’ve been using these two to death this summer.

Kaja’s bento eyeshadows are convenient for travel. No one wants to travel with those big, expensive eyeshadow palettes that can break and shatter.

My makeup vibe is pretty minimal. An easy, no fuss look is my preference. I quickly apply some color from these eyeshadows with my finger and I’m done.
