PETER THOMAS ROTH – product review
A Peter Thomas Roth Mask-A-Holic edition: Are these expensive beauty products worthy of your purchase?
Let me just start off by saying that I’m so glad that I purchased this Peter Thomas Roth sampler kit at Sephora. It can be a little overwhelming when walking around a beauty store to know which products are winners or failures. With this sampler pack I get to try six expensive face masks for $25, which means I don’t have to commit to buying the more expensive, full size products. FYI, not all the face masks in the sampler kit were winners, but I don’t regret purchasing this Peter Thomas Roth sampler. I also think this is a good stocking stuffer, birthday gift for a teenage girl, or an affordable gift you can give yourself.
Not every single one of these masks were a hit for me, but, I enjoyed purchasing this sampler to try all the different types of Peter Thomas Roth masks. I recommend to purchase this sampler pack at least once, and then you can decide for yourself if you want to purchase the full size jars.
Also, just because some of these masks didn’t work for me doesn’t mean that they won’t work for you. That’s why I think this sampler pack is such a fun purchase, you can try them all for $25.

Don’t these colorful, gorgeous little tubes look like candy? I was initially curious about this product because of the visually appealing box and its contents.
- 24K Gold Mask: Pure Luxury Lift & Firm – Peter Thomas Roth claims that this lavish, pampering treatment helps to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving skin looking silky smooth, firmer, radiant, revitalized, and youthful.
⊗ FAIL ⊗
(Product pictured above) This was the most disappointing mask of them all, maybe perhaps because I had the highest expectations for this one. I mean, come on, 24K gold mask! I was expecting something like, WOW. I’ve seen these luxurious looking jars many times at Sephora, and they always peaked my curiosity, but let me tell you that they ain’t all that. First of all, it goes on very light so that means you’ll need to use a lot of product to cover your entire face.
You genuinely can’t tell this is an “opulent gold mask”
It looks like a normal yellow gel mask. It has no scent. It doesn’t shimmer. It’s sticky. Lame, for all the hype, I wasn’t impressed by the results after using it several times.
– Gimmicky. Not at all as glamorous as the marketing suggests.
– I’m not impressed enough with this mask to buy the full size $80 jar.
– No negative reaction from my skin after using this ‘gold’ mask.
– My face had a slight, temporary glow after.
– I almost purchased the full size jar before trying out the sample, I’m so glad that I didn’t.
- The claim: Blue Marine Algae mask infuses skin with nutrients and humectants to help defend against dehydration and prevent further damage.
⊗ FAIL ⊗
– Peter Thomas Roth claims that this is an intense hydrating mask. I didn’t feel the intensity of this facial product, it had a temporary cooling sensation, and it also left me with a temporary glow. I would not purchase this full size product. On the plus side, it did have a pleasant ‘baby powder’ scent.
- Cucumber Gel Mask: The claim – Cucumber Gel Mask helps soothe, hydrate, and detoxify dry, irritated skin.
⊗ FAIL ⊗
– Blah. The same as the others. Whatever the claims are, I didn’t notice them. This also had a nice cooling sensation when applied. I would not purchase a full size product of this mask.
- Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask: The claim – a purifying, decongesting, and hydrating mask with odorless Irish moor mud to draw out dirt, oil, and impurities as it infuses skin with moisture and vitamins.
⊗ FAIL ⊗
– I just didn’t like this one at all. I didn’t notice a difference after I used it. Also, it didn’t completely dry, it maintained a gel like surface up until the point that I washed it off. It kinda was a hassle to wash off. Not worth the hassle. Would not purchase the full size jar.
- Pumpkin Enzyme Mask is a powerful and highly effective exfoliating treatment that addresses a dull, aging, and congested complexion.
♥ WINNER ♥
– I seriously enjoyed using this mask. It has an awesome pumpkin smell, which makes it so much more fun when I’m pampering myself. This did feel powerful, and I imagine using this product consistently will be an effective exfoliating treatment – effective but not harsh. I can genuinely picture myself purchasing the full size jar of this product.
– It does have a slightly, painful sting when I’m using it.
– It left my face a little red after using it. Does that mean it’s working?
– I had a nice soft glow.
– Sincerely love this pumpkin mask!
- Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask: The claim – contains cutting-edge plant biotechnology that isolates and replicates the perfect rose stem cells to minimize visible signs of aging.
♥ WINNER ♥
I liked this product, and no, not because it’s pink. I felt something happening with my skin when I used this. I did like the way my face looked after I washed this mask off. I know I haven’t used this long enough to know how well it’s working on my skin, but I like it so far. Yes, I would consider purchasing the full size jar of this one.
