PAT McGRATH MINIs: Lust-worthy Lipsticks?

PAT McGRATH Minis – Lust-worthy lippies?

PAT McGRATH minis

Pat McGrath Labs MatteTrance Mini Lipsticks

mini lippies

I purchased these PAT McGRATH minis because I really wanted to like them. I thought they’d make great stocking stuffers, an affordable treat for a friend, or, a no-brainer last minute birthday gift. Unfortunately, no.

X They are not lust-worthy lipsticks X

Pat McGrath lipsticks are highly rated and loved on Sephora’s website. I’ve purchased three full-size PM lipsticks myself, and I like them a lot (Enjoy more PAT McGRATH content here). However, these minis are not on par with the high quality full-size PAT McGRATH lippies that we know and love.

Mini lipsticks from PAT McGRATH

Ugh, save your money

$25 for these three PAT McGRATH minis (which doesn’t include tax and shipping), so that means they are about $8.30 for each. Almost ten dollars for a tiny lipstick that is no bigger than the tip of my pinky finger, girl…

Just go down to the local drugstore and buy a full-size bomb lipstick from your favorite affordable beauty brand, ya feel me?

*I didn’t pay full price for this set. They were on sale when I purchased them, thankfully

mini lipstick swatches

Powdery, drying and not velvety

The proof is in the pudding, as you can see in the image above, the swatches for these minis look unquestionably dry. They have a grainy and gritty and drying texture. I didn’t have this issue with my full-size PAT McGRATH lippies tho…

Guinevere mini lipstick

Elson

Blue red

Elson is my favorite shade of the three. For my personal taste and skin tone, I prefer a blue red color lipstick.

Elson mini lipstick

Guinevere

Blooded crimson

There is no ‘wow’ factor with this Guinevere shade. Dry, smudgy, and I’m just not a big fan.

Fever dream mini lipstick

Fever Dream

Peach Sienna

Fever dream is an orange, peachy, coral kinda shade. I never wear these colors, but I actually liked it, until I saw the white band. Fungus or mold? Fever dream was the only mini that had a white band around its base?

Indistinguishable?

Pat, honey, you should’ve included a mini from Blitztrance, and another from LuxeTrance or one from your lip balm line. Three similar inferior shades from the MatteTrance line is overkill.

As shown in the images below, these 3 shades look very similar to each other, right? There’s just no reason to include three similar shades all from the MatteTrance line. I know I would have enjoyed this set more if it included different shades from a variety of the PAT McGRATH lipstick lines.

Pat McGrath Minis:

+ likes

+ Compact, great travel size

+ Super cute packaging

+ Free of parabens

+ Whimsical

+ Pigmented

+ Long lasting

+ Fun concept

+ Great way to experience 3 different shades from the PAT McGRATH line

X dislikes

x Grainy and gritty texture

x Fungus? Mold?

x In real life, colors don’t exactly match the Sephora online swatches

x Negative reviews say lipsticks tend to break inside their tubes.

x Some individuals claim products were covered in a white powder

x Disappointed customers complain that their lipsticks smell

x Quality control issue – poor

x They break easily. Lipsticks break off their base.

x Dried out & old

x Too expensive – like, $8.50 for each tiny lipstick

x Packaging feels cheap and plasticky

x Faulty packaging

x Very drying

x Formula is powdery, drying, and not velvety

x The lipstick is so small it’s kind of hard to apply to lips

x They smudge easily

Mold on mini lipstick

Mold? Old? Or Solid Gold?

(Fever Dream in Image above)

Definitely, not solid gold, that’s for sure.

The Fever Dream shade has a fuzzy, white band around its base. Now, when I first noticed this I didn’t think anything of it, except when I read some negative Sephora reviews, and they all claim it’s actually mold/fungus. I was instantly grossed out. As you can see in the image above, Fever Dream is the only one that has this white band, why?

Other negative reviews indicate that these minis are just old? Others claim they smell. The batch I received didn’t smell at all.

Sadly, these Pat McGrath Minis are just gonna be used as photo props now. I’m officially turned off. PAT McGRATH didn’t need to include colorful whimsical sequins in their packaging, as consumers we just want a quality formula that is not drying and mediocre.
