Jo Malone
Splurging With Jo Malone
First things first, I bought a brand new fragrance: Myrrh & Tonka, Cologne Intense by Jo Malone. This stuff is to die for. I can’t stop smelling myself whenever I wear it. This scent is soft and warm and sophisticated and bold and dark and sexy. It’s a luxurious scent, and I feel that it can be worn all year round. I’m going to be using it Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring…so like, always! I bought the 3.4 FL oz bottle and I think it is a pretty generous size for a $180, plus tax & shipping. I bought the fragrance directly from Jo Malone.com, which came in its signature, chic packaging. Also, I got six samples with my purchase. I don’t regret this pricey purchase at all.
Jo Malone describes the scent as, “Rich, hand-harvested sap of the Namibian myrrh tree, mingling with the warm almond and lush vanilla notes of the tonka bean. Noble and intoxicating.”
I like the box that my Myrrh & Tonka cologne came in, it is subtle and chic. It’s not frilly or overly fussy. I know I’m going to reuse the box to store maybe some hair bands or bobby pins. I also like the bold black bottle with the silver top, it looks & feels expensive. Love the way it looks on my vanity among my other prized beauty products.
I received 6 Jo Malone samples with my cologne purchase:
- Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne
- Lime Basil & Mandarin Cologne
- Blackberry & Bay Cologne
- Dark Amber & Ginger Lily Cologne Intense
- English Pear & Freesia Body Creme
- Nectarine Blossom & Honey Hand Wash/Body Wash
I completely appreciate that this purchase included all these samples, because now I’m becoming more familiar with their scents and I know I will be purchasing more from them because of these generous size samples.
Out of all the samples I received with my cologne purchase, I know for a fact that I’d like to buy the Dark Amber & Ginger Lily Cologne Intense. Yes, that was my favorite sample. I’ve already used up this sample *sad face emoji* but I know that I’d like this to be my next Jo Malone fragrance purchase. It’s a very intense, heavy and sensual scent. Strong and spicy. Love! Love! Love!
All the other fragrances that I received as samples were delicious as well, but I don’t know if I’d purchase them in their full size with their full size price, lol.
I’m not too wild about the English Pear & Freesia body creme sample. Too fruity for me. There’s nothing at all wrong with it, it just didn’t impress me as much. But it does feel like a summery scented lotion that you can carry in your purse to refresh your hands and elbows on a hot, dry day.
I liked ordering from Jo Malone online directly, because they were really generous with their samples.
Originally, I had ordered my Myrrh & Tonka scent from Macy’s online. You know what they did?!? They shipped my $180 bottle in bubble wrap inside an old dirty brown box. That’s it! There were no samples, no signature Jo Malone box…or anything. So I returned it to the nearest Macy’s, that same day, got my money back, and ordered my fragrance from Jo Malone.
At the Jo Malone store in the SouthCoast Plaza (I love that mall), I got a travel size Lime Basil & Mandarin – Jo Malone candle $35. The service at this location was excellent. My candle was packaged beautifully & elegantly. Now my house will have an air of sophistication with my new Jo Malone candle.
Hope you enjoyed this Jo Malone summer beauty haul. Do you have any questions about these products? Just let me know in the comment section below. What’s your favorite Jo Malone purchase?

Shame on the fruity scents (I clearly am not a fan either, ha). I have heard very highly of Jo Malone but wanted to read something that was a true reflection. Thanks!
