8 Skin-Vestment Serums In My Current Skincare Routine
8 Skin-Vestment Serums In My Current Skincare Routine
Skin-Vestment Serums
I’m the ultimate beauty serum junkie. I always have several on rotation in my skincare routine at all times. The eight described below fall under three different categories: face, body, and hair. Four out of the eight are forever products for me because they are effective and affordable. I don’t buy my skin-vestment serums based on aesthetics or packaging or fragrance. The focus is primarily on effective powerhouse anti-aging ingredients and price, because efficient skincare doesn’t need to be expensive.
Skin & Hair Beauty Serums
1 | 🤷🏼♀️ ($58) Kérastase Nutritive 8H Magic Night Serum Hydrating Serum – I’m still on the fence about this serum. I haven’t had it for too long. It smells luxurious and it feels like liquid silk on my hair. My hair does feel soft after I use it. I do like it but, I don’t know if it is worth the hefty price. I know I like it a lot more than the olaplex hair serum (shown in image 4 above).
This product feels luxe all the way. The bottle is heavy and aesthetically pleasing and it looks gorgeous on my vanity. However, if you aren’t a fan of fragrance then I would avoid this product, because it has a strong fragrance that lingers. I don’t want to bash this product, but I don’t know if I would recommend it at this price. Try to get a sample or trial size of this serum before you purchase the $58 full size one.
2 | 👍 ($30) Maelove The Hydrator – I’ve purchased several of these bottles already. They last a long time, and they’re reasonably priced. I use this serum at night after I apply my tretinoin. I like the way it layers with the rest of my other skincare products and the ingredients. The Hydrator contains hyaluronic acid (helps with skins moisture), Vitamin B5 (nourishes skin), and Resveratrol (super antioxidant). I know I mainly use this serum for the Vitamin B5 and the resveratrol. None of my other skincare products contain resveratrol. I will continue to buy this again and again.
Kérastase | Maelove | The Ordinary | Olaplex
3 | ⭐ ($16.80) “Buffet” The Ordinary – This item has increased $2.00 in the last year. This is a peptide serum that contains syn-ake (peptide complex), matrixyl synthe-6 and matrixyl 3000 (peptide complexes), argirelox, hyaluronic acid (hydrator), and amino acids. I use this serum every morning. I like the affordable price of the “Buffet” and all its anti-aging ingredients. The serum is silky soft and it sinks into my skin fast. I will continue to purchase this affordable Ordinary product again and again.
4 | 👎 ($30.00) Olaplex No. 9 Bond Protector Nourishing Hair Serum – This antioxidant rich hair serum is supposed to protect hair from heat, reduce tangles and static, and protect against environmental aggressors. It should deliver shine, style retention, and bounce. Overall it’s supposed to make your hair look bomb, meh…
I wasn’t impressed with this hair serum. I don’t think I’ll ever pay $30 for this ever again. I never noticed a benefit from using this hair product consistently. Dang, I really wanted to like it too. I get my hair dyed blond regularly, so anything that can help improve the quality of my hair, I’m totally down for, even if it is pricey. Maybe this product works like magic for other hair types, but not for mine.

Body Serum
5 | 😍😍😍 ($45) Nécessaire, The Body Serum – I did not want to like this product…but I do. It’s so extra but so necessary. I really enjoy using this serum. As soon as I get out of the shower I use this all over my décolletage and my shoulders and my arms and hands. Then I quickly apply a moisturizer on top.
I’m not crazy about the price, but you get a lot of product for the price. This product contains hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, ceramides, and B5. My skin absorbs this serum fast. It’s silky, luxurious, and fragrance-free. I purchase this every time I run out. I’ve bought this many times already.
6 | 😍😍😍 ($26.95) Timeless Coenzyme Q10 w/Hyaluronic Acid Serum – I use this serum in the morning immediately after I use my vitamin c, then I apply my moisturizer and then I put my sunscreen right on top of it all asap. I think I’ve already purchased this serum 6 times already. It is a forever product of mine. I like that it is fragrance free and it contains vitamin e, Matrixyl 3000, and hyaluronic acid. I like the texture, it’s soothing, and it sinks nicely into my skin. The price is not too bad either. This serum is always in my skincare routine.
Nécessaire | Timeless | Sisley
7 | ⭐ ($27) Timeless MATRIXYL SYNTHE’6 Serum – I use this serum in the evenings after I apply my retinol. It’s soothing, hydrating, nourishing, and silky soft. It’s an affordable skin-vestment serum, and one of my forever skincare products. What makes this product a winner? The powerhouse anti-aging ingredient like, matrixyl synthe’6, which is a powerful polypeptide that stimulates collagen production. My skin absorbs this serum up fast. I always have this serum in my skincare routine.
8 | 😍😍😍 ($215) Sisley-Paris Hair Rituel Revitalizing Fortifying Serum – This hair serum is bougie and pricey as fu*k. A couple years back I noticed the hair around my temples were thinning a bit, so that’s when I purchased this serum. After I wash my hair I let it air dry, then I apply this serum all over my scalp. I’ve been doing this for a couple of years now. This has helped my hair a lot.
I would never buy such an expensive hair product if it didn’t work (I try to buy a bottle when there are major sales going on in the department stores). I’ve noticed less shedding and thinning of my hair. Sisley’s serum is highly concentrated in plant-based extracts, proteins, vitamins and minerals. Also, it’s ultra light and non-greasy and it has a pleasant smell. It’s an expensive product but it lasts a long time.
