DIVE Palm Springs
DIVE Palm Springs
Need to work on your desert glow? But ya don’t know where to go? Sis, check out DIVE Palm Springs. It is an instagram-worthy boutique hotel that brings opulence to the desert. It’s a dreamy long weekend in a perfectly curated oasis. It has a laid-back feel of the tropics with an easy glamour of 1960’s St. Tropaz, all without getting on a plane✈️
Palm Springs – A petite desert resort
DIVE is an 11-room petite boutique resort. We specifically picked this place because it only has eleven rooms. During this pandemic we don’t feel comfortable staying at a big resort. This hotel was perfect, we comfortably walked around the property and never felt like our personal space was violated. Even in the pool, everyone instinctively just spaced out and kept to themselves. We liked that there were no elevators, or interior corridors, just half an acre of spacious outdoor gardens, fountains, and a pool.
*CNP Travel tip:🍦Stop by Lappert’s Ice Cream (located on Palm Canyon Dr) for their delicious pineapple Dole whip🍍It tastes exactly like the ones at the Tiki Hut in Disneyland. We had the kids cup for $3.95. It was a perfect portion and super refreshing on a scorching summer day🔥🥵🔥
💎 A hidden gem in the desert 💎
There are many nooks and hideaways for privacy. Cozy day beds were sprinkled throughout the courtyard, there are two fire pits, a humungous hot tub, and an abundance of French bistro tables. A relaxing koi pond greets guests at the entrance, and swinging chairs are everywhere.
The entire courtyard is whimsical and romantic. The hotel is pretty new, it doesn’t have a worn/used look at all.
We are planning to come back during fall or winter, this way we can enjoy the fire pits and hot tub. When we were there during July it was 120 degrees, my skin felt like it was blistering.
DIVE into this Palm Springs oasis
The food was delicious. There is a complimentary breakfast provided for guests (as shown in image below).
Free continental breakfast included:
- Fresh fruit
- Croissants
- Butter & Jams
- Greek yogurt
- Granola
- Hard boiled eggs
- Coffee from Joshua Tree Coffee Company
Each morning a staff member brought our breakfast to us in our cabana. We enjoyed a peaceful, delicious meal with a gorgeous view. And as shown in the image below, we were completely alone, this place was luxurious and intimate.
For lunch we ordered a basil & mozzarella pizza, which we split, it was scrumptious. Also, the owner came out and provided everyone around the pool with free non-alcoholic drinks in the evening, which was a pleasant surprise.
A petite & magical room
Our room, Le Rêve (French for “the dream”) was petite & magical. The ceiling is custom Christian Lacroix wallpaper, its eccentric and whimsical patterns left me mesmerized. The solid brass queen bed was like sleeping on a cloud. We enjoyed a colorful red tile bathroom with glass rainfall shower and touch-lit mirror. The room felt a little too small, but we did spend the majority of our time at the pool, so it wasn’t a big deal. Our room was immaculately clean, and that is always the most important factor for me. If we ever visit this hotel again we will get a suite. The room was aesthetically gorgeous and I’m glad we experienced it.
~ Watch video below for a quick tour of our room and bathroom ~
*CNP travel tip: If you know you’re going to stay in a very small hotel room when traveling, do not overpack (I overpacked) You’ll just clutter up your small room. Only pack the essentials.
A boutique hotel that feels like a home away from home
During these unprecedented times it’s not convenient to hop on a plane and travel to exotic and culturally amazing locations. When choosing lodging for your next mini vacay, opt for a smaller boutique hotel instead of a massive “spring break” property. Seek out smaller resorts that have charm and mystique and hospitality, like DIVE in Palm Springs.
If you are concerned about C-19, book your stay during the middle of the work week, that way you can avoid the weekend crowd. We did just that, and as you can see from the pictures included, we practically had this property all to ourselves. This boutique hotel truly felt like a home away from home.
Unfortunately, we did experience some glitches at this unique hotel, I’m just being honest. I’ve listed several of them below. But I don’t think it’s fair to bash this place until we’ve tried it at least one more time. Our overall experience was a solid B+, but I’ll admit I’m a picky b*tch, so just keep that in mind.
Not a Glitch-free experience:
- The room was small (perfect for solo travelers)
- tech-free hotel (no television in our room)
- We were told some rooms were experiencing plumbing issues, we did see plumbers on property
- Owner seemed stressed because of plumbing issues
- The hotel does have a bit of an identity crisis – is it a relaxing resort or a spring break destination? The great majority of the guests were quiet, they came just to relax. But there were a couple of people that wanted to try to turn the place into a MTV spring break fiasco (thankfully they were only at the pool for a couple of hours, and we were in our cabana so we could drown them out)
- The staff were not strict about their face masks. The hotel website claims they are diligent about face masks, but they really weren’t. We kept our distance, no big deal for us. But if you are super concerned about C-19, I wouldn’t come here during the pandemic
Affordable luxury
Despite the glitches we experienced, we are still looking forward to returning in the fall or winter for another mini vacay here, because DIVE Palm Springs is a luxurious affordable oasis in the desert.

This looks lovely! I’m not comfortable with travel yet but if I was I definitely think I’d feel more comfortable staying somewhere like this with a smaller number of rooms x
