Karl Lagerfeld Crossbody Bag: Unboxing

Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld is a brand that I found in Neiman Marcus Last Call at the Cabazon Outlets. I know you have two questions you wanna ask me right now?

  1. Who is Karl Lagerfeld?
  2. Why do I want a purse with his name on it?

Well, KL is a fashion designer based in Paris. He is the head designer and creative director of Chanel as well as Fendi and his own fashion label.

Chanel & Fendi!!! Need I say more. If these two powerhouses employ him, then maybe it is a pretty cool thing to have his name on your purse.

Let me just start off by saying that, “I love this store.” You can buy luxury Neiman Marcus products at a discounted rate. The store I visited was clean and organized. Also, they sell luxury optical glasses (Gucci, Prada, Versace, McQueen) at affordable prices.

This hot pink, leather cross body purse is currently my new obsession. Okay, so, this purse was priced at $168 at the Neiman Marcus department store and I got it for $100 at the Cabazon Outlets. This bag is so soft with its genuine pebble leather. But not soft in a fragile way, because this bag is durable.

I’m sure you’re wondering what is ‘pebble leather’ and does that mean my bag is fancier?

No, genuine pebble leather doesn’t make your bag fancier. It just means that this leather has a granulated surface, which makes it soft to the touch and hides imperfections better. Pebbled leather  is not ‘bad’ quality at all, it’s a matter of personal preference. Maybe there’s some purse snobs out there that care (eye roll) but I don’t. For the price, durability and quality of this bag, I don’t care. It’s just so smooth, pink, soft, and perfect.

A view of the two slit compartments inside my purse

The front of it is covered in smooth, pink, diamond stitching and with an outside twist lock pocket.

Let’s talk about that outside twist lock pocket first.

I’m going to use the front lock pocket compartment for receipts, gum, business cards, or scraps of paper. Seriously, nothing else fits in this pocket. I thought I was going to be able to slip my cell phone in there but, “No!” If you fill this purse to capacity, and then try to put your cell in the front, you’ll find it very difficult to close the twist lock pocket. This is a very snug pocket, but that is not necessarily a bad thing, because the less room there is in your purse…you’ll have less crap in your purse.

I wish the adjustable cross body strap (21″ to 24″) came with an option to remove the strap. Obviously, the ‘strap’ makes this a cross body, because then it would be a clutch without the strap, I guess.

Let me say this though, the strap is a perfect length for me and it is comfortable.

Also, I greatly appreciate the top zip closure. It makes me feel confidant knowing that nothing is going to fall out of my bag. As long as my bag is zipped, nothing is slipping out.

On the back of this purse there is an outside zip pocket. Again, this pocket is small and I’m going to use it to hold my car & house keys.

The gold hardware has Karl Lagerfeld stamped on them. You can smelll the leather, and there’s an elegant leather badge inside the purse. Plus, the lining is so pretty.

Inside the bag there are two slit compartments, a roomy interior, and one zipper compartment. The main zipper compartment is where I will be keeping my cell phone.

Another thing that I like about this bag is that it is “affordable luxury”.

Is that even a thing?

Let me explain.

All over social media I see all these influencers with their $2000 handbags and I drool. I literally drool all over myself. But here’s the thing, can you imagine if you lost or ruined one of those bags? What if you got a stain on it that can’t come off? There goes your thousands of dollars. If something happens to my bag, I’m only out $100.
