JULY: Beauty Product Empties
JULY: Beauty Product Empties
🪒🧼🧴#BEAUTYPRODUCTEMPTIES – Beauty consumers have a cornucopia of products to choose from when shopping. That’s why it is a personal triumph when one does finally finish a purchase, more so if it’s later repurchased. It’s just so satisfying to use up the last glob of face cream, that final perfume spritz, or when you finally ‘hit pan’ with your favorite eyeshadow palette.
🚮 Below are my JULY: Beauty Product Empties that are getting tossed into the recycling bin, but, not before I share them with you all first.
Hair Care
😍 | $25 Nécessaire, The Body Wash – I’ve purchased the fragrance-free version many times already. I also purchased a eucalyptus one for my husband. He liked it, didn’t love it, but he liked it just fine. I like the fragrance-free one – it contains niacinamide, B3, vitamin E, marula oil, and green tea. It is a gentle, fragrance-free body wash that foams up nicely. I wish the bottle was bigger, $25 for a body wash is a bit pricey, and the product size feels too small. I do like the way my skin feels when I use this body wash. This is a great product for sensitive skin. It has a nice, thick texture that lathers nicely. I will keep on buying this product.
👎👎👎 | $59 NuFace Leave-On Gel Primer – I think the last NuFace bottle I bought was around $38 and now it’s twenty dollars more…🤬🤬🤬 What the hell?!? I use this gel primer with my NuFace Trinity facial toning device. This primer ensures optimal micro current conductivity with the toning device. I basically use this gel to keep from getting zapped with the NuFace device, but then I quickly wash it off. It works, but I don’t really have anything else to say about the gel because I don’t use it as skincare.
I don’t think I’ll keep purchasing this now unless it’s during the Sephora sale or if I get it on sale at other department stores. Honestly, this makes me want to encourage people not to buy the NuFace device entirely.
😍😍😍| $68 Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer – This Drunk Elephant moisturizer is pricey af…but I love it. I’ve already purchased this moisturizer several times. It is a rich, moisturizing cream that contains peptides. After using this daily I noticed my skin felt more plump, soft, bright, and hydrated. I use one pump of this every morning after I apply my vitamin c serum and my Timeless skincare coenzyme Q10 serum, then I layer my sunscreen on top of it. I like the way my makeup looks layered with this moisturizer.
It is also fragrance free. The ingredients list is long, so if you have sensitive skin or allergies be aware of the ingredients list. I have sensitive skin, and I have not experienced any negative side effects from this Drunk Elephant product.
My only complaint is the price. There are some affordable peptide creams at your local drugstore, so don’t feel the need to buy this bougie version. However, I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this again despite the expensive price. I only use one pump of it in the morning, and at night I use the Cerave pm moisturizer (which is very affordable).
👍 and👎 | $50 Dior Backstage Airflash Long-Lasting Setting Spray – I just finished this Dior primer. I did not use it as a setting spray, because it left me with a shimmering residue all over my dark brown eyebrows. Ummmm….yeah…this was a cool luxury makeup product to try out.
I used a tinted sunscreen as my base and then sprayed this primer over my face and neck, it left me with a nice tint and glow. This Dior mist primer evened out my skin tone, thus I didn’t really need to use a foundation.
But…girl…this $50 mist primer only lasted me about 2 months, and I didn’t even use a full face of makeup everyday. If you use a full face of make every single day, I’m sure you will need about a can a month, that’s about $600 a year for a primer. It does have a light fragrance, so keep that in mind. This tinted mist primer can be a little messy as well, especially if you are wearing delicate clothing.
I don’t think I will ever purchase this setting spray ever again.
👍👍 | $7.99 GARNIER Micellar Water – This micellar water works well. It’s affordable and it is a good portion for the price. I will continue to purchase this again and again. Plus, it’s convenient that I can just run down to my local drugstore and pick it up.
👍 | $33 each Kérastase Resistance Shampoo & Conditioner for Damaged Hair – This was an okay shampoo and conditioner set. Did not notice any kind of positive change in my hair. If you like burning 🔥 through your money then this is definitely the hair care brand for you. This brand did not leave an impression with me at all. July: Beauty Product Empties – I will most definitely not be purchasing this shampoo and conditioner ever again.
Skincare
😍😍😍| $42 Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare All-Physical Lightweight Wrinkle Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 – I’ve been using this sunscreen daily during this entire year. My skin feels fully protected when I use it. I like this so much that I’ve repurchased it several times now. I love the way it looks under my makeup, and layers perfect with all my other skincare. I will purchase this sunscreen again and again.
😍😍😍 | $24.90 Curology – Curology is a customized prescription skincare service designed for my specific needs and goals. This skincare subscription service allows me to get my tretinoin without having to physically go in and see my doctor. The packaging is simple and not flashy at all. But the prescribed cream is potent and effective.
My prescription is for 4% Niacinamide, Azelaic Acid 5%, and my Tretinoin 0.035% was just increased to 0.05% by my assigned dermatologist.
Curology is a good option for people who don’t have access to a dermatologist, but still want prescription strength skincare. It should not replace in office cancer screenings or hospital treatments for serious skin conditions. This beauty brand is definitely something to consider if you are looking for easy access to prescription strength skincare for anti-aging, textured skin, blemishes, or acne.
July: Beauty Product Empties – I will continue to use this service and I’m very satisfied with this product.
👍| $36 Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm Makeup Remover – I first learned of this cleansing balm from Angie’s Hot And Flashy Youtube channel. Angie is a Benjamin Button kinda gal, she’s almost 60, and she is clearly aging backwards. A lot of my affordable holy grail skincare products are from her recommendations. She mentioned that this Clinique cleansing balm is one of her favorites, so I just had to try it.
Glad I tried this balm. I think it is a great sized product for $36. There is no strong scent, and it is gentle. It never irritated my skin at all. However, I don’t feel like it took all of my eye makeup off. After I double cleansed I noticed I still had a little bit of mascara and eyeliner residue, still had the raccoon eyes.
Honestly, I feel Farmacy’s Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm worked much better for me. Also, the Then I Met You – Living Cleansing Balm has been my favorite cleansing balm of all time. And Pond’s cleansing balm for only $10 was a fantastic product for me as well.
This is a wildly popular product. Tons of people rave about this cleansing balm. It just hasn’t worked out for me. Micellar water works better than this balm I’m my opinion. I don’t even reach for it as often as I should. Sadly, I know I will never purchase this cleansing balm ever again.
😍😍😍 | $45 Nécessaire, The Body Serum – I did not want to like this product…but I do. It’s so extra but so necessary. I really enjoy using this serum. As soon as I get out of the shower I use this all over my décolletage and my shoulders and my arms and hands. Then I quickly apply a moisturizer on top. I’m not crazy about the price, but you get a lot of product for the price. This product contains hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, ceramides, and B5. My skin absorbs this serum fast, it’s silky, luxurious, and fragrance-free. I will purchase this again when I run out. I’ve bought this many times already.
👍 | $30 Maelove The Hydrator – I’ve purchased several of these bottles already. They last a long time, and they’re reasonably priced. I use this serum at night after I apply my curology tretinoin. I like the way it layers with the rest of my other skincare products and the ingredients. The Hydrator contains hyaluronic acid (helps with skins moisture), Vitamin B5 (nourishes skin), and Resveratrol (super antioxidant). I know I mainly use this serum for the Vitamin B5 and the resveratrol. None of my other skincare products contain resveratrol. I will continue to buy this again and again.
