What do you wanna experience when you go to Disneyland? Wanna ride Pirates of The Caribbean, Space Mountain, or The Haunted Mansion. Stroll down Main Street USA and do some shopping. Watch a spectacular parade. Um, are you just going for those fun Insta pics? Well, a lot of Disney lovers like to go for the food! Yup, that’s right. Not only are you gonna spend a fortune just to get into the park, now you’re gonna spend a fortune because there is so much delicious and addicting food.
Below I’ve listed 6 Disneyland treats you must eat ASAP on your next visit to this whimsical amusement park.
- Tiki Juice Bar & Dole Whip – The Tiki Juice Bar is always at the top of my list when I go to Disneyland, seriously. It’s located in front of the Enchanted Tiki Room, and the lines for this tasty treat can get pretty long, especially on a hot SoCal day. There’s an abundance of seating around the Tiki Juice Bar area, it also has a tropical island vibe that goes perfect with your pineapple treat. The dole whip desserts only come in one size, $6. I usually split it with my hubby because the portions are pretty decent. Btw, this delicious dessert is vegan.
2. Royal Street Veranda’s Clam Chowder Bowl – I’m a sucker for a good, clam chowder bowl and so is my husband. When the sun goes down, Disneyland can get kinda chilly, depending on the time of the year that you go, so I recommend warming up with a clam chowder bread bowl at The Royal Street Veranda. The lines aren’t usually too bad, it just depends on the time of the day. We have honestly never had a bad experience here, the soup is always hot and fresh. When it gets busy there are not too many options for seating, so beware. This is a great, hearty, quick bite for $10.
3. The Monte Cristo at The Blue Bayou Restaurant or Cafe Orleans – Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the popular, crowded Disney park and duck into the cozy Blue Bayou restaurant. And what should you order? Duh, if you’ve got a sweet tooth, it’s all about The Monte Cristo. It is my favorite cheat meal at Disneyland. It’s battered turkey, ham and Swiss dusted with powdered sugar and served with a berry purée. We order it along with their garlicky parmesan pommes frites that also includes a cajun spice remoulade (the Monte Cristo is a super rich and fattening splurge of a meal, so you might wanna split this with someone.) This sandwich has been on the Blue Bayou menu since 1967, so yeah, it’s that popular. Currently, it is only available during lunch time at the BB. If you aren’t able to score a table at The Blue Bayou, then try to get a spot at Cafe Orleans and enjoy this dish there. Oh yeah, this meal will set you back about $21.
4. Corn Dogs at The Little Red Wagon – Every Disney trip must always include a corn dog from Little Red Wagon! Devoted corn dog lovers describe these treats as crunchy, lightly sweet, salty, delicious, and worth the wait. People don’t mind waiting in line for this affordable food. They are about $7.50 a piece and in the Disney Kingdom this is not a horrible price.
5. Mickey’s Ice Cream Bar – A Mickey Ice Cream bar on a hot, sunny day in Disneyland is a must! It’s simple, classic, creamy, chocolaty, and delicious. But it’ll cost ya, $5.
6. Fried Chicken at The Plaza Inn – The famous Disney Fried Chicken meal: It comes with green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, biscuit, and three pieces of chicken (breast, thigh, drumstick) all for $20. You can find this delicious, hearty meal right before you enter A World Of Tomorrow.

Such a great post! I’ve not been to Disney in California, but I’ve been to the Orlando one and we’ve always struggled for something to eat. We’ve found that the times we’ve been and had lunch at the park we’ve not really enjoyed it. I think we expect a little too much from theme park food- I’m not sure. I’ve never had one of the dole whips either, even though it’s at the top of my list to try! My favourite food at Disney is the rice krispies, they’re so good!xx

Thank you so very much, Hannah! Glad you liked the post. I agree, I don’t think we should have super high expectations when it comes to theme park food. I think to save money it’s better to eat a super hearty meal before you go, spend the day walking/burning it off, snack on small treats throughout the day, leave and have a proper dinner somewhere else. ooh, I love Rice Krispies. I do 100% recommend the Dole treat if you like pineapple and it’s a hot day. Have a beautiful day.

Thank you so very much, lovely! I’m with you, I wanna go back to Disney just for some fatty, delicious food. Hope you have a beautiful day 🙂
Maria, I’m pleased to find you active after not having checked in on your for a long time. Every LA-area writer HAS to cover Disney, and this is a great angle. In all my trips, I’ve never eaten at Blue Bayou. I once had a boss who SWORE she’d take me to Club 33, where our company had a membership, but THAT never materialized. No corn dogs for me, but maybe a Monte Cristo! Happy blogging.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback, Brad. So glad to hear from you. Glad you enjoyed my post. Oh my gosh, I would just die to go to Club 33, I’m so sorry that never materialized for you. Monte Cristos are so delicious, just beware that they are a little on the sweet side. Honestly, I think the Blue Bayou is too over priced, but I’m glad we’ve experienced it. Hope you have a beautiful day and a great 2019 🙂
I haven’t been to Disney in a few years, but these locations sound divine! So many delicious treats to choose from xx
